Dear Frank and Eloise,

As many are, Koby, the girls and I are praying for you daily, knowing with certainty that our God is holding you close in his tender arms, great power and love.

I waited a few days before writing, so that I could recall some of the great memories and moments of encouragement that you both had a part in.

* I remember meeting one of the most interesting people, your daughter Jeannette who shared so comfortably these great stories of growing up a missionaries daughter in Puerto Rico. We really love and appreciate Jon and Jeannette as well as Jacob and Jaci.

* I remember the friendly handshakes at church, the warm eyes, the natural smile you always wear and the sweet hugs from Eloise.

* I remember sitting at Jeannette's dining room table just talking, listening to you share your stories, your memories, your wisdom. You have impacted us so that we can pass onto our own children what we heard and saw and witnessed with you both.

* I remember a man who knows God's Word like he knows his own name.

* I remember you baptizing your own grandchildren in the lake at our church picnic. What a blessing!

Thank you for being caring to personal friends of ours who were going through hard circumstances, thank you for extending yourself in love, patience and wisdom in so many ways, thank you for living out your purpose and leaving in your path a heritage that will continue to be lived in the lives of your children, grand children and families.

There are those who touch the hearts of others...that is you!

We love you both ....Koby and Donna Marowelli

Greetings from Anne & Rick Twigg

Dear Bro. Frank,
We are truly thankful to hear that the Lord, in His great mercy, is giving you comfort during these trying times. Praise His name.

Bro. Frank & Eloise,
We will never forget our stay in P.R. nor our times of wonderful fellowship; the welcome center and the food.
P. R. was one of the highlights of our time spent travelling in the navy.

I contacted K.C. Fehl to let him know of your condition, as I also send him daily nuggets of truth to encourage him.

Eloise, our Tuesday morning Ladies Bible studies, in my home, were a great blessing to me and I felt priviledged to host it; and the fellowship of all these wonderful women is something that I'll always cherish.

Both you and Bro. Frank influenced our lives in so many ways and we love you for it. Also, our contact over the years has meant so much.

As I read your e-mail posts and share these many sentiments, I recognize some of the names of ones who were in P. R. with us. I would love to hear from anyone who remembers me. I have often wondered what became of you all.

Because of Jesus,
Anne & Rick Twigg

Dear Frank, Eloise, and Loved Ones;
It is me again. I am glad to hear that Frank is feeling some better and able to enjoy visiting with his family. I want to share a verse that I read yesterday that was a help to me:
Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator. 1 Peter 4:19
We will continue to keep you in our prayers, love Jesse & Sherry

Hi Pastor & Mrs. Hooper! We were so sad to hear from the Apontes that there is a health crisis for you all there. God is in control no matter what and this is always our consolation. Your headline verse is one that our church in Ponce sings almost every Sunday and is a powerful reminder that God's plans are for our good even things look like bad news to us. We have the fondest memories of our times with your whole family and Pru's children and I can surely say we are grateful for your influence and part in Pru's decision to respond to the gospel when he did. As Pru mentioned, he did decide to retire this past year and in retrospect it probably was the right timing. He is correct that we still do not have a real definite idea of what God will direct us into for the next few years and must keep our prayers and hearts constant so that we will do His will and purpose. Not having to work every day meant that I was available when the news came from California that my dad was suddenly and undexpectedly very ill. So I went to Sacramento to be with them and help them until he went to heaven in April. One of the benefits of my time with them was learning about some renewal and wellness products that though they were too late to save dad because he was not hydrating properly, they sure did help him feel better and mostly pain free. At 86 his doctors did not try to treat his condition at all so it was a comfort to have some recourse. I am using the same Protocel and can really see alot of improvements in my own health and like I told dad, maybe God put me there at that time to not only help out there but to learn about things I never paid attention to before. Please do let us know if there is any way we can be of help as you all study each day how to manage in this time of illness. Even though we are way down here in Virginia there may be some way that we can be of some assistance. Like the Apontes I think back on you folks as a tremendous example of living out God's purpose and plan. And you did this displaying to all around you that it is possible to work your brains out for God and have a great time enjoying life at the same time! I would write alot more but I slipped in the shower last night and cracked my head open so better rest a little now. We will certainly keep in touch though--from Puerto Rico soon too. Love to you all, Paula

Dear Frank and Eloise,
Our prayers are with you at this hard time. Wish we were there to give you a hug.
You have been a special friend ever since I met you at the service center in P.R. in the 50's. Thank you for all the input into my life. Over the years, I have shared your story with many people and your faith has been an inspiration to me.
Thanks for being such a faithful prayer warrior and supporter for us all these 36 years as we have served the Lord here in Canada.
You will know me at the wedding feast - I will be the fat guy in the white robe!

Dear Mom and Pop Hooper,

One of the most memorable moments in my life shall remain the day that my son, Forrest (age 5), asked Pop Hooper about how to ask Jesus into his heart. He was too young to fully understand what Pop Hooper said, but what a blessing for me! For the man that I consider to be my "spiritual grandfather" to be sharing with my son the Love of our Heavenly Father - words can not describe the feelings in my heart.
Pop and Mom, thank you for following the Lord to Ceiba! Thank you for caring for those young sailors and their families. You both made an enormous impact on my parents, Barney and Carol Olive, which in turn impacted my life.
I am grateful to have gotten the chance to meet you in Fayette, Alabama when you made your journey South. I look forward to the day we meet again, for we will meet again - either dressed in these earthly clothes or our royal attire furnished by the Father! Until then, may God hold you close and shower you with His richest blessings!!

Six days ago I heard of Frank's physical trials through my daughter Ruth and her hubby, David Rawlings. Although not having seen bro. Frank and family since the mid-70's over in Ceiba, I do have good memories of visiting the servicemen's center in old San Juan accompanied by my then young sweetheart and now my dear wife of 45 years, Norma. We'd go by with other young folk from the Wesleyan Church in Caparra Terrace. Years later we stopped by several times at your Ceiba home and ministry facilities, but with our 4 young children.

In view of what I'd just learned re. bro. Frank, who so faithfully served our Lord here in PR, I sat down and wrote out personal letter (not to post here) which I knew would be read to bro. Frank. I ran through a brief 'memory lane' in which I referred to my son-in-law, David Rawlings, whom I've learned had been a faithful attender of the church in Ceiba along with his now retired parents. Then, when I was on the verge of mailing that email, my office pc froze up totally, something that had not occurred for years! Email text was lost, as expected, and being so late at night, I decided to try again next day or as ASAP. But, a few days went by and I was not able to write. Now I know why! Just today I learned of Frank's home-going, precisely a few hours before my first email was cut off! God does all things well.

So, now I write these lines to express to dear Sister Eloise our heartfelt Christian love for you in this time of sadness mixed with the joy of knowing Frank's at rest with the Lord. God always fills the emptyness left by such trials in very special ways. I've no doubt that all saint's entry through the pearly gates of gold leads to unending enjoyment of the Lamb of God and not to 'human reunions' as human sentiments cause our frail souls to dream about. So, in that huge crowd of saints singing praises to our Glorious Saviour, which includes my Dad, Robert Surpless -with the Lord since 1994- the new voice of Frank now sings as part of those anthems of praise. One day we'll be there too, all because of God's marvellous grace. Our prayers are with you. May God bless and sustain you each day. By His grace, yours,
Dave and Norma Surpless
