Welcome

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers for Frank. He is very weak and not been able to talk on the phone but he appreciates your outpouring of love.

Just to give you a brief explanation of events: In May and June Frank had episodes of blood in his urine. The doctors gave him antibiotics as they felt it was due to an infection. He finally saw a urologist who ran some tests in the middle of July and found tumors in his bladder. At that point we decided to come to Mayo Clinic for further diagnosis and possible treatment. He has had procedures done here before and they were quick to give him an appointment. Our first
appointment was on August 1st and immediately the doctor sent him for a biopsy of his liver and a bone scan. It was discovered that he did have cancer in the bone and liver. We are still awaiting the final report on the liver biopsy as they seem unsure at this time whether his cancer is truly bladder cancer or if it might have originated in the liver.

Until about 3 weeks ago, Dad was feeling pretty good - perhaps a little weak but still mowing the lawn, going for his daily walks, etc. Then, he started going markedly downhill each day - experiencing weakness, nausea, lack of appetite and some discomfort in his lower back and legs. We have Dad on a pain medication and a sleeping medication and have contacted Hospice of Northwest Ohio and plan to meet with them when we get home.

Thank you for your continued prayers. Many of you have expressed a desire to come and see him and when we get him home we are hoping that he will be able to have visitors. Right now he is extremely exhausted and sleeps most of the time. He is not talking much and does not seem to have the strength to visit, but if he expresses an interest in seeing his dear friends, be sure we will let you know. We will use this website to keep you posted and send you messages from him.

The Lord is faithful and we know he will continue to give strength and peace.

Dear Frank and Eloise,
It is Sunday afternoon and I just read my email. You guys have always been there for me and have really shown your love toward my wife Sherri. We are all praying for you as you have been praying for us for so many years.
I always remember that day on EM beach at Rosey Roads Navy Base and the first time I met you both. The first time I was realy conftronted with the truths of the Gospel.
Thanks so much for your faithfulness since that day in 1982 till now that you have continued to pray for my life and ministry.
We will be praying for you both and tell Frank I'm still his son in the faith.
Love you both.

We are saddened to hear of the health issues confronting Pastor Frank.

Frank, Eloise and all their family enriched so many many lives in so many ways. It is hard to believe that it was over 40 years ago that I first entered the Servicemen's Center and was led to Christ by Pastor Hooper.

Our prayers will be with him and all of the family continually.

Please let us know as the situation unfolds if an opportunity comes for a brief personal visit.

When I hear the name, Frank Hooper, I remember a young man, President of his class, at Moody Bible Institute. What a journey you have made and are making. It is a joy to know you.

Praying that God will help you over this Big Bump in the road.

The name Frank Hooper brings to mind many, many pictures. Roller Skating on Monday nights with First Baptist. A red Rambler covered with silver duck tape. Lots of laughter. A true man of God. The man who officiated Mom's funeral. Etc., etc..

My prayer is that God, the Great Physician, will provide His comfort.

Dear Mr. Hopper,
Although I haven't had the opportunity to get to know you, I do know your daughter Becky and just based on that, I am confident you are a man I would have wanted to know.
I hope and pray that as you walk these last days of life this side of heaven that God would be gracious and bless you with His presence and the hope and peace and comfort that surpasses all understanding.
In His care,
Glenn McIntyre

For a good part of us, you and I met Frank, as the Pastor and Shepard and later, as a friend, at Grace Bible Church in Ceiba, Puerto Rico. Frank tended to us, sometimes errant and wayward Sailors, Solders and Marines, as a friend and leader. And one way or another, every day that he stood before us in that church, he showed us the way to Glory and exhorted us to be strong in the face of the adversities we encountered daily. There are memories we each hold today because of Frank and how he gave of himself for us and I know I am a better person for the sacrifices he endured on our behalf.
I also know that if he and his family had ministered to you as they had given of themselves for me, then we have a collective memory that can and will stand the test of time. Frank, you are a true Soldier of the Cross and yes, we may hold a few physical scars from the battles of life, however, we are assured that if we have stood for Christ, we will find rest in Him from the battles we have seen. So like Saint Paul, we can say, we have fought the good fight and have finished our course but more importantly, we have kept our faith, haven’t we Frank?
Though we celebrate few feast days, I cannot help but recall the words attributed to one of England’s Kings before the battle of Agincourt and how an army was said to have rallied when hope was failing and that in times of our own distress, we still need to hear words of encouragement today, don’t we? It is reported, King Henry said ‘If you stand with me, we will be remembered from this date till the end of time’ but it does my soul better in knowing that our Redeemer lives and that we shall someday be like Him and be with Him for eternity.

Dear Bro. Frank,
We are truly thankful to hear that the Lord, in His great mercy, is giving you comfort during these trying times. Praise His name.

Bro. Frank & Eloise,
We will never forget our stay in P.R. nor our times of wonderful fellowship; the welcome center and the food.
P. R. was one of the highlights of our time spent travelling in the navy.

I contacted K.C. Fehl to let him know of your condition, as I also send him daily nuggets of truth to encourage him.

Eloise, our Tuesday morning Ladies Bible studies, in my home, were a great blessing to me and I felt priviledged to host it; and the fellowship of all these wonderful women is something that I'll always cherish.

Both you and Bro. Frank influenced our lives in so many ways and we love you for it. Also, our contact over the years has meant so much.

As I read your e-mail posts, I recognize some of the names of ones who were in P. R. with us. I would love to hear from anyone who remembers me. I have often wondered what became of you all.

Because of Jesus,

Frank and Eloise,

I'm not sure if you remember me (but knowing you both, I'm sure you do). Nancy Wilson and Nancy Athearn have periodically updated me on the goings-on in your life. Nancy A just sent me this website, and informed me of the cancer. I am so sorry to hear of this, and am keeping you and your family in my prayers. You both were a big part of my life (many years ago), and I thank the Lord for you often. You have both aged so gracefully, in fact in looking at your photos, neither of you has changed much, a little greyer perhaps, and a few of the "smile lines". But you look wonderful. Hoping today is a better day than yesterday. God's blessings to you. Many thanks for who you are, for your dedication to the Lord, and for helping so many, myself included in their walk with the Lord. I truly would have hated being in P.R. if it weren't for you and the Grace "family". It is one of my fondest memories.

With Christ's Love,
Nancy (Goolsby/Nelson) Scott

Dear Bro Frank,
Whenever I think of you my heart is full. Isiah 52:7 is my picture of you. You have no idea how God changed the direction of my life and eternal destiny through you and your precious, precious family. May our great LORD grant that even now your heart and mind be filled with HIS joy unspeakable. I love so much. Doris
and I are lifting you up in prayer.

Dear Eloise and Hooper family,

Our prayers have been going up since we heard the news. I have been picturing the activities in heaven being like much like the "extreme make-over" show, only on a much grander scale. Angels running around shouting orders through megaphones and blowing trumpets while putting the finishing touches on our Pastor’s new mansion.

You both are, and have been, a blessing and constant source of encouragement and faithfulness over the many years. Our time with you back at Puerto Rico back in the late 70’s was so fast yet I remember those days like yesterday with the wonderful meals, 3 point sermons and outlines on the bulletins, trips to the deaf school, camping, ping pong, volleyball, weddings, fellowship, movies, the meals, work days, “prayer stop” rock, did I mention the food, and Pastor Hooper reading and preaching from the word! You both came over to our home one evening for dinner. The real desert for that evening came when Pastor Hooper pulled out his Bible and shared some words and blessed our family. What an influence you had on this kiddo that was just starting high school.

Our Pastor is spending his first Sunday in heaven reunited with so many friends. And he is face-to-face with the One that you both have served so faithfully and led so many towards! I bet he is blown away! And I thank my GOD in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the fist day until now. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
